Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 22, 2026
Screencore is designed to respect your privacy completely. This policy explains how Screencore handles your data -- which is to say, it does not handle your data at all.
Data Collection
Screencore does not collect any data. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no usage tracking, and no diagnostics sent from the app. Nothing leaves your machine.
Your Files
All screenplay files, notes, alt lines, markup, revision history, and settings are stored locally on your Mac. Screencore does not upload, sync, or transmit your files to any server or cloud service. Your scripts live on your filesystem and nowhere else.
The Launcher
The launcher is the script picker shown when Screencore starts. When you link a folder to the launcher, Screencore scans that folder and reads the screenplay files inside it to build a searchable index. For each file, this index records the title, summary counts (scenes, words, characters, and locations), the names of the characters and locations it contains, its story outline, any draft and revision labels, and the file's size and dates.
This index -- and the bookmarks Screencore uses to locate your linked folders again -- is stored only on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox container. Screencore scans only the folders you explicitly link, and none of this information is ever transmitted, uploaded, or shared.
No Account Required
Screencore does not require an account, email address, login, or any form of registration. You download the app and start writing. There is no sign-up process and no user profile.
No Third-Party Services
Screencore does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
This Website
This section covers the Screencore website (screencore.app), as distinct from the app. The website is a static informational site. We do not run any of our own analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, or third-party scripts on it. Every page asset (fonts, images, scripts, and styles) is served from our own domain. We do not ask you to sign in, fill in a form, or provide any personal information to use the site.
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. As our hosting and content-delivery provider, Cloudflare automatically processes limited technical information on our behalf each time you visit, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the date and time of the request. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site, protect it against attacks and abuse, and provide us with aggregated, anonymous traffic statistics. We do not receive your individual IP address, and none of this information is used to identify you, contact you, or build a profile about you. For details on how Cloudflare handles this data as a processor, see Cloudflare's own privacy documentation at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
The website also uses the browser's standard Network Error Logging, which lets Cloudflare collect reports about failed network connections so that delivery problems can be diagnosed. These reports are limited to connection errors and contain no personal content from your visit.
Writers Room
The Writers Room collaboration feature uses Apple MultipeerConnectivity, which creates direct peer-to-peer connections between devices over the local network. This means:
- No data passes through a server
- No relay or proxy is used
- No internet connection is required
- Script data is transmitted directly between devices on the same local network
- When the session ends, the connection closes. A copy of the script remains on the guest device
Backups
Screencore creates timestamped backups of your scripts on every save. These backups are stored locally in the app's sandbox container on your Mac. They are not uploaded or synced to any external service.
Cookies
Neither the Screencore app nor the Screencore website uses cookies. The app is a macOS application and does not use cookies. The website sets no cookies, uses no browser storage to track you, and serves no third-party content that could set cookies on its behalf. Because there is nothing to consent to, you will not see a cookie banner.
Children's Privacy
Screencore does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Because Screencore does not collect email addresses or contact information, we are unable to notify users directly -- please check this page periodically.
